Instead, she is a true lifeform, nurtured jointly by the love, talent, and time of countless creators. When creators pour their hearts into writing songs, drawing illustrations, and choreographing dances for her, every emotional projection endows her with a unique soul. This collective cultivation has infused this distinct rose, with her iconic blue-green pigtails, with an endless variety of vitality. It not only transcends the boundaries of borders, generations, and dimensions but also continues to expand the creative community. This forum specially invites Mr. Hiroyuki Itoh, the CEO of Crypton Future Media, INC. and the key driving force behind the Hatsune Miku project. He will look back at how Hatsune Miku was born in Sapporo, how she broke the traditional top-down, one-way communication of IPs, and how a balance is struck between “open co-creation” and “brand protection.” From the perspectives of music, community ecology, and the latest technology, we will explore how this “vitality of secondary creation,” guarded by creators, establishes a companionship that transcends dimensions, creates globally celebrated cultural value, and continues to shine in the creators’ universe.Speaker: Hiroyuki ItohCEO of Crypton Future Media, INC.He was born in 1965, in Shibecha Town, Hokkaido. After graduating from high school, he worked as a staff member at Hokkaido University while attending and graduating from the Faculty of Economics at Hokkai-Gakuen University. In 1995, he founded Crypton Future Media, Inc. He is currently the Representative Director of the company. The company operates as a “sound trading company” that deals with sound materials, while developing digital content related businesses and exploring their area of expertise, which is the “sound”, leading to the planning and developing of the singing voice synthesis software “Hatsune Miku” in 2007. The stated mission of the company is to “create” technologies and services that enable creators to “create” their works, and to “create” a platform for them to showcase their created works. He is the Chairman of the NoMaps Committee since 2016. He is the Representative Director of OngaLAB, Inc., since 2020. He was awarded the Medal with Blue Ribbon in 2013 for his achievements in new industries. He published his book, “The Future of Creation: The Reason Why Hatsune Miku Was Born in Hokkaido”, in 2025.
