If the world no longer rains,
If the winds have no clouds to blow,
If our world has no trees, no flowers to grow,
A single drop of rain becomes the most precious thing, once there is no more.
What would our lives become in such a world?
"Life’s most profound echoes often come from its smallest drops.”
This story unfolds in a drought-ridden world where water has become a rare and precious resource. Here, a plucky young girl named Hope is born. She has never seen rain falling from the sky—until one day, a tiny storm cloud wanders to her doorstep and lets fall a single, shimmering drop of water. This chance encounter sends her on an adventurous, life-changing quest.
A family show like no other, Little Drops of Rain is a masterful example of storytelling that transcends language, weaving urgent environmental themes into a captivating sensory journey. Combining live Foley sound, music, objects, non-traditional puppetry, and inventive performance techniques, the production creates an enchanting and urgent effect.
Through delicate puppetry, Bon Appétit Theatre invites audiences to find beauty in small encounters and immerse themselves in a unique narrative aesthetic. Immersing in this “time fable” allows the imagination to soar, witnessing the irreplaceable beauty in the smallest of moments and sensing that the silent objects in our lives actually have much to say.
Little Drops of Rain is the fifth original story-production by Bon Appétit Theatre. Since its premiere at the 2023 Huashan Children’s Arts Festival, it was selected as a representative work for the 2024 Ministry of Culture’s Taiwan Season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It has since toured to the Changhua Children’s Art Festival, the Pingtung Autumn Art Festival (in non-typical theatre spaces), and the Prague Fringe Festival.

Bon Appétit Theatre|
Founded in 2018, Bon Appétit Theatre is a Taiwanese ensemble dedicated to original storytelling and the art of collective devising. The troupe’s name reflects a metaphorical “appetite” for creative exploration, where artists serve as chefs, inviting the audience to savor a feast of imagination. Since 2020, the company has pioneered the integration of live Foley and physical theatre, transforming abstract soundscapes into vivid, tangible narratives. In 2024, their production Little Drops of Rain was selected as the sole theatrical representative for the Taiwan Season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, earning a prestigious four-star review from Edinburgh Festivals Magazine, which hailed it as “…an ASMR feast for the ears.”
Specializing in non-verbal puppetry, object and shadow theatre and diverse acoustic experiments, Bon Appétit Theatre weaves contemporary issues and environmental mindfulness into evocative sensory journeys. Their acclaimed work has graced international stages, including two invitations to perform at Singapore’s Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts. The company has also collaborated extensively with major Taiwanese institutions and festivals—such as the National Theater & Concert Hall, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and Weiwuying—demonstrating robust capabilities in both performance and cross-disciplinary curation while consistently bridging cultures through the universal language of wonder.
