【2026衛武營小時光】韓國傳統說唱故事《水底王國，彼岸之歌》 Moksung Theatre Company The Sugungga: The Other Side of the World

《水底王國，彼岸之歌》以非傳統方式重新詮釋韓國古典寓言「烏龜與兔子」，故事始於病重的海龍王下令尋找治病良方。一隻烏龜自告奮勇，承諾取得兔子肝臟來治癒海龍王。烏龜走進森林，找到了兔子，並以龍宮的優渥生活作為誘餌。當兔子察覺危險後，說服海龍王讓牠回到森林，理由是自己沒有把肝臟帶在身上，而是藏在森林中不為人知的地方。回到森林後，兔子嘲笑烏龜的愚蠢，從此再也沒有出現。這部作品結合了偶戲與傳統韓國「盤索里（Pansori）」，巧妙融合英文與韓文，並透過豐富的視覺與聲音元素跨越語言隔閡。「盤索里」是一種由一位演唱者與一位鼓手共同呈現的韓國傳統音樂敘事流派。因其獨特的藝術價值，盤索里不僅被列為韓國國家無形文化遺產，更被聯合國教科文組織評定為人類非物質文化遺產。本劇改編自盤索里經典五大劇目之一的《水宮歌》( Sugungga)，以題名「The Other Side of the World」暗示陸地（兔子）與海洋（龍王與烏龜）兩者截然不同的世界觀與社會階層。在韓國木偶劇團的詮釋下，這段傳統寓言進一步轉化為對跨越偏見、尋求理解的當代反思。This production is the untraditional staging of the classical Korean fable about the Turtle and the Hare. The story begins with an underwater Dragon King ordering a search for a cure for his illness. A Turtle promises to deliver him a Hare’s liver which will cure him. The Turtle travels to the forest, where he finds a Hare and lures him with the wonderful prospects of living in the Dragon King’s palace. After discovering the danger before him, the Hare coaxes the King into allowing him back to the forest by explaining that he left a liver in a secret place back home and that he came without it. Once in the forest, the Hare ridicules the Turtle’s stupidity and is never seen again. The show combines puppetry with the traditional Korean performing style “Pansori.” The language barrier is overcome through the use of diverse visual and vocal elements, together with English and Korean expressions when appropriate. This production is adapted from Sugungga, one of the five surviving classic Pansori repertoires. The title " The Other Side of the World" suggests the stark contrast between land (the Hare) and the ocean (the Dragon King and the Turtle), symbolizing two fundamentally different worldviews and social hierarchies. The company seeks to develop sustainable and vibrant theatrical language that combines traditional performing arts with contemporary influences, offering its audience the best of both worlds. Along with the exploration of the essence of Czech puppetry and Korean pansori, Moksung has expanded its traditional expressions and overcome the linguistic barriers of overseas performances through performances that speak more to the audience through objects and voice rather than through the words. Thanks to that, Moksung performances have been enjoyed not only in South Korea, but also abroad – in the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, or in New Zealand, promoting a modernized version of pansori internationally. Apart from the above-mentioned,Moksung’s performances are characterized by distinctive scenography and hand-made stage design, which touch the hearts of the audience no matter their age.
