今年在衛武營週年慶的特別時刻，八角塔男聲合唱團將以多變的男聲織體，演繹一場跨越時空的聲音饗宴。

從布蘭特．亞當斯充滿色彩的〈音樂〉揭開序幕，並以威廉．拜爾德的聖體頌穿梭於16世紀的莊嚴聖殿，再體會林京美老師筆下〈親像鹿欣慕溪水〉的純淨渴望；隨後在石青如老師雋永的〈世界恬靜落來的時〉中，感受臺灣文學的溫柔。最後，我們將情緒轉向熱血感動的電影《冠軍之路》主題曲，並在激勵的福音音樂中，為這份堅持與信仰築起最堅固的〈基石〉。

This year, during the special anniversary celebration of Weiwuying, The Octangle Male Choir will present a timeless sonic feast with its diverse male vocal textures.

Opening with Brant ADAMS’ vibrant “Musica,” we journey through the solemn 16th-century temple by William BYRD’s Ave verum corpus, and experience the pure longing,“As the deer panteth for the water” described by LIN Ching-mei. Then, in SHIH Ching-ju’s “When the World Quiets Down,”  we feel the gentleness of Taiwanese literature. Finally, we turn toward the inspiring theme song of the HERO! HITO! , and conclude with the inspiring gospel music “Cornerstone,” building the strongest foundation for perseverance and faith.

美國南卡羅萊納大學合唱指揮博士及密西西比大學合唱指揮與鋼琴演奏雙碩士。李博士之專業領域橫跨人聲與器樂，且累積相當豐富的演出與指導經驗，如克雷格．傑索普的彌賽亞管絃樂團指導、英國指揮家保羅．斯派塞、美國合唱協會主席提姆．夏普合唱大師班指導，並與USC合唱團受邀演唱於美國卡內基音樂廳、美國合唱協會、美國教師協會、美東及歐洲巡迴演出。曾率八角塔男聲合唱團三度拿下全國社會組男聲組金質獎、2023年桃園國際合唱大賽銀桃獎、第39屆寶塚國際室內合唱比賽同聲組銀牌、第7屆東京國際合唱大賽同聲組第一名金牌，並榮獲賽事最佳指揮。與八角塔府城合唱團於2024年全國社會組獲混聲組金質獎、女生組銀質獎。目前為臺灣神學院專任助理教授、基督教研究所文學碩士班教會音樂組主任，並擔任八角塔男聲合唱團駐團指揮、八角塔府城合唱團駐團指揮，同時任教於國立臺南藝術大學。

八角塔男聲合唱團

八角塔男聲合唱團源自於長老教會設立之淡江中學，該校的男聲合唱歷史可以回溯到日治時代。1920年，被稱為臺灣合唱之父的陳清忠畢業於日本同志社大學，隔年返臺回到淡水中學（淡江中學前身）任教，並且在1925成立了第一個臺灣人合唱團「淡水中學合唱團」。淡江中學的合唱傳統一直持續至今日，前後有著混聲合唱團、男聲合唱團、男生四重唱，與原住民女學生組成的野聲詩班，音樂風氣十分興盛。2005年3月，幾位淡江中學的基督徒校友成立了「淡江中學校友四重唱」，以合唱服事上帝與回饋母校及長老教會為宗旨，並且分享詩歌當中的動人故事。2011年4月，校友四重唱擴大改組為「八角塔男聲合唱團」，以1925年落成於母校的美麗建築作為團名，也加入了許多非淡江校友之教會弟兄。2012年8月21日，八角塔立案為新北市文化局之正式演藝團體，持續朝專業之路邁進。

八角塔男聲合唱團目前活躍於教會界與合唱界，近年先後在國家音樂廳、國家兩廳院演奏廳、衛武營國家藝術文化中心音樂廳、新竹市文化局演藝廳、彰化縣文化局員林演藝廳、嘉義市政府文化局音樂廳、臺南文化中心舉辦音樂會，口碑與票房頗受好評。此外，八角塔在2014年與2015年分別推出《傳承．悸動》與《馬偕的生命詩歌行旅》兩張專輯，前者入圍第26屆傳統藝術金曲獎最佳宗教音樂專輯，後者更獲得第27屆傳藝金曲獎之該項大獎。

2022年參加桃園國際合唱大賽榮獲季軍銅桃獎；於台北國際合唱音樂大賽入圍大獎賽，分組賽獲得3面金牌。2022、2024、2025年三度拿下全國社會組合唱比賽男聲組金質獎。2023桃園國際合唱大賽榮獲亞軍銀桃獎。2024年7月首次挑戰海外賽事，於第39屆寶塚國際室內合唱大賽獲同聲組第二名銀獎；2025年第7屆東京國際合唱大賽同聲組第一名金牌並入圍大獎賽，指揮李建一榮獲賽事最佳指揮。

Conductor｜LI Chien-yi

Dr. LI holds a Doctor of Choral Conducting degree from the University of South Carolina and dual Master’s degrees in Choral Conducting and Piano Performance from the University of Mississippi. His expertise spans both vocal and instrumental music, and he has accumulated extensive performance and conducting experience, including conducting Dr. Craig JESSOP’s “Messiah” Orchestra, working with British conductor Paul SPICER, and leading masterclasses in choral music with Tim SHARP, President of the American Choral Directors Association. He has also been invited to perform with the USC Choir at Carnegie Hall, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA), and touring the Eastern United States and Europe. He has led The Octangle Male Choir to three national gold medals in the male voice category, a silver medal at the 2023 Taoyuan International Choral Competition, a silver medal in the unison category at the 39th Takarazuka International Chamber Choir Competition, and a gold medal in the equal voice category at the 7th Tokyo International Choral Competition, where he was also awarded Best Conductor. Together with the The Octangle Tainan Choir, he won the Gold Award in the Mixed Voice Category and the Silver Award in the Female Voice Category at the 2024 National Social Group Competition. He is currently Assistant Professor at Taiwan Graduate School of Theology, Director of the Church Music Division of the Master of Arts Program in Christian Studies, and serves as the Conductor of The Octangle Male Choir and The Octangle Tainan Choir. He also teaches at Tainan National University of the Arts.

The Octangle Male Choir

The Octangle Male Choir originated from Tamkang High School, established by the Presbyterian Church. The school’s history of male choir can be traced back to the Japanese era. In 1920, CHEN Ching-chung, known as the father of Taiwanese choral music, graduated from Doshisha University in Japan and returned to Taiwan the following year to teach at Tamsui High School (the predecessor of Tamkang High School). In 1925, he founded the first Taiwanese choir, the “Tamsui High School Choir.” Tamkang High School’s choral tradition continues to this day, boasting a mixed choir, male choir, male quartet, and a wild-voice choir composed of indigenous female students, creating a vibrant musical atmosphere. In March 2005, several Christian alumni of Tamkang High School founded the “Tamsui High School Alumni Quartet,” with the aim of serving God through choral music, giving back to their alma mater and the Presbyterian Church, and sharing moving stories from their hymns. In April 2011, the alumni quartet expanded and reorganized into the " The Octangle Male Choir," taking its name from a beautiful building on its alma mater completed in 1925. Many church members who were not Tamkang alumni also joined. On August 21, 2012, The Octangle Male Choir was officially registered as a performing arts group with the New Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau, continuing its professional development.

The Octangle Male Choir is currently active in the church and choral communities. In recent years, they have held concerts at the National Concert Hall, NTCH Recital Hall, Weiwuying Concert Hall, Hsinchu City Performance Hall, Yuanlin Performance Hall, Chiayi City Concert Hall, and Tainan Cultural Center, receiving high praise and strong box office returns. Furthermore, The Octangle Male Choir released two albums in 2014 and 2015: Inheritance ‧ Heartbeat and Mackay’s Journey of Life and Poetry. The former was nominated for Best Religious Music Album at the 26th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts, while the latter won the same award at the 27th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts.

In 2022, The Octangle Male Choir won the bronze medal at the Taoyuan International Choir Competition and qualified for the Grand Prix at the Taipei International Choral Competition, winning three gold medals in the category stages. The choir also won the gold medal in the male vocal category at the National Social Choir Competition three times - in 2022, 2024, and 2025. In 2023, the choir won the silver medal at the Taoyuan International Choir Competition. In July 2024, the choir competed overseas for the first time and won the silver medal in the equal voice category at the 39th Takarazuka International Chamber Choir Competition. In 2025, the choir won the gold medal in the equal voice category at the 7th Tokyo International Choir Competition and qualified for the Grand Prix, with conductor LI Chien-yi receiving the Best Conductor award.
